​St. Croix River Valley and neighboring communities' “Backpack Programs” are designed to help feed hungry children during the school year. Many local private and public elementary and middle schools participate in the program. Backpacks are filled with non-perishable, child-friendly food items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Many programs also include a voucher for free milk, eggs, and produce from local grocery partners.
